WASHINGTON, D.C., — Proximo, a Latino-led nonprofit organization, today launched "Fight Back," “Break” and “Todo” three 30-second ads in both English and Spanish calling on Congress to hold health insurance companies accountable and pass H.R. 3514 and H.R. 247. These bills are part of a larger slate of endorsed legislation to advance affordability and opportunity for the Latino community. The ad will run in six regions across Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; California's Central Valley; Denver, Colorado; and the Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
The ads follow Emma, a working mother stretching every dollar to cover groceries, gas and a doctor's visit with her son. At home, she watches the headlines roll in: health insurance companies and President Trump’s billionaire buddies making record profits. Emma decides to fight back. The ads call for banning surprise medical bills, capping insurance premiums and holding insurance companies accountable, and closes by urging viewers to call Congress at (202) 225-3121 and tell their representatives to pass H.R. 3514 and H.R. 247.
Proximo believes that educating Latinos about the policies that shape their daily lives strengthens both the Latino community and American democracy. These ads are part of Proximo's ongoing work to share clear, accurate information and encourage Latinos to make their voices heard with their elected officials.
"Latino families are doing everything right: working hard, taking care of their kids and their parents, and still watching health care costs eat up their paychecks," said Esteban Tapetillo, Proximo Board Member. "Meanwhile, insurance companies are posting record profits. This ad is about giving families the facts and a way to fight back. One phone call to Congress can help pass H.R. 3514 and hold companies accountable."
The ads are part of a $1.5 million buy and will air in the following regions:
Phoenix, AZ
Tucson, AZ
Central Valley, CA
Denver, CO
Rio Grande Valley, TX
Austin, TX
